I have a purple algea growng all over my tank glass-power heads and etc
its more so on the back glass as well as the sides and is bubbled up and coming off , it looks like pealing paint
Not sure if this makes a diference but I was doing corals at one time and im not any more, i use to keep my ph at 450 but now im sure its real low, I also run my lights about 8 to 10 hours vs 12
Not sure this is what caused this but to me it looks like algea that died, when I was doing corals and had my ph up there the algea was a thick green bed of algea on my glass,I left it as it looked cool, with the purple stuff coming off theres still a thick green algea under it that I am leaving as it does not want to come off anway
I have been taking it off a litle at a time because it makes a mess, I net as much as possible, what is this?

The algae you are seeing, is most likely coralline algae. This is good stuff, means your tank is healthy. I don't understand what you mean about the pH. It couldn't have been 450. Saltwater pH is supposed to be 8.2-8.4. Their are supplements call pH UP and pH DOWN. You can usually find them at your LFS. They really help.

Exvisor, could you post a pic of this purple algae? Coraline , when dying turns white and flakes off as opposed to bubbling and peeling off, so I'm pretty sure that's not what you're experiencing. It sounds more like cyano, which will trap nitrogen gas underneath it and will bubble up. A pic of it would help get you a positive ID on what you have going on in the tank.

And, as Brock mentioned, your pH reading was strange. I'm pretty sure you meant your calcium was 450 which is excellent. Can we get your other lwater params, and also do a phosphate test, or have your LFS test for you.
