I got up this morning to a dead clownfish, and a dead butterfly. Their bodies were covered in some kind of white mucous. I looked at my other clownfish and noticed that he also had the slime covering him, but he was still alive. My mandarin dragonette also has this! To top it all off, one of my mollies has it! I need some help, I don't know if this is marine velvet or what.

If it's velvet, you need to get a QT tank going right now. Copper is your only hope for the fish, and major sterilization of the tank.

It also sounds like Brooklynellosis. A Formalin bath is the treatment for that.

It may just be too late for your fish, but it's all worth a try. . .
Good luck to you!

Ok, the mandarin goby died...but I dipped the clownfish in freshwater for about a minute and the slime is gone, and he is swimming around better now. Also, i'm seeing these little things on the glass of my aquarium. They look like TINY brine shrimp, and there are a lot, and they move very fast. Are these pods or some kind of parasite?

Those would be pods.

Sorry about your losses Brock. You'd be wise to remove that other clown to QT and treat him with meds and leave your display tank empty for about 6-8 weeks to allowany remaing parasites in the system to die. Without the fish in there, they will eventually die off.

But I have 2 damsels that are fine, they don't have any kind of slime and are in tip top shape. I don't have a QT tank yet, but I plan on getting one soon. Also, the other clown is dying as we speak, he doesn't look like he will ever recover, no matter how many meds I use on him. He is practically gone.
