Emergency with brittle!

I bought a brittle sea star a few days ago, and he hasn't had anything wrong with him until today. I woke up and he only had 2 arms! The other three were still wiggling in the sand, but the star wasn't moving. Where his arms were, there are little red fringes! I don't know what to do! Is this like something I should be worried about, will he recover, or will he just deteriorate? I need some help!

brittle stars grow their arms back, but from the looks of the picture, this one might not make it

Yea he died this morning...oh well...I'll stick to serpent stars

hey um i think it was your acclimation. ive lost 2 before this one ive got now.you have to acclimate them for a while like an hour or two.
