Okay, I know ZIP about saltwater fish--which is why I don't own any. Yet. However, I'm becoming a freshwater expert, and am the moderator of a fish forum. Unfortunately, someone has now come with a saltwater problem, so I don't know exactly how to help; FW and SW seem so different.

Here's the post: Injured Fish (http://www.thepetprofessor.com/forum/showthread.php?t=625)

Please help!!! Thanks

Hi whisper....Do you know how damaged this lemonpeel is??

I have an injured lemonpeel saltwater fish. He has been beaten up by my other fish. Which one I am unsure of. I have placed the injured fish in a quarantine tank. Is their anything else that I can do to ensure that he will survive?
Please help,
ams31

If he is just beat up some he will more than likely just need to remain qt'ed until he heals up...keep the water quality high and feed well with selcon or something with garlic…if it looks like a secondary bacterial infection is setting in then some Maracyn two would be ok to use or some other broad spectrum anti-biotic... But even when the fish heals the problem isn't solved if he puts him back in and he gets beat up again!!! Ams31 may need to take this one back and try another fish… or remove the one that is terrorizing the lemon….Sometimes if you introduce a fish back from qt at night time it gives him time to acclimate and hide until the lights all come back on and may be he will be ok if he has plenty of hiding places….

How long has he had the fish? I would assume he/she just got it since agression usually happens when a fish is first introduced in the system. Also you might wanna have them know that lemonpeel angels are very hard to keep since they have very especialized diets and very seldom do they take on prepared foods. HTH and any assistance we can provide let us know.
