Recently Ive purchased the 12 gallon nano. I love this set up, easy to maintain, and easy to place. I have had trouble with the ballast. Seems the idea of the ballast inside the lid has been changed in design due to moisture causing failure. I contacted the manufacturer via LFS because they(lfs) wasn't getting a response. After contacting them the replacement part was sent out, to the LFS. I was charged for the replacement 20 bucks. the LFS recieved the part free due to awareness of the problem. I felt even though it was only 20 bucks, it should've been free. What do you all think?

Well sounds like the customer service dept at the fish store might be lacking altho there might have been a shipping charge or somthing of the sorts.

i wouldn't think you would be charged for a defective part or the shipping costs, if it were mine i would contact the manufacturer directly and lodge a complaint, assuming that the unit was still under origanal warranty

Yea, I feel a handling charge is in order, he did call me when it came in. I feel 20 bucks is too much knowing it cost him absolutely nothing. He has lost more now because of his actions, that he will know. I will go elsewhere for what i want from now on. Use him for convienence only.
