How old is your tank? What is in the tank? What are you feeding them? We will be glad to help but we will need some information. I know that GHA can be a pain but it can be beaten.

GHA = Green Hair Algae by the wayglassnug.

Richard has stated some good points, we need to know how long you've had your tank and if its fully cycled or not.

glassnug,

If the algae looks like green hair strands then check this link out.

I would also like to add a couple of questions. Are you using RO/DI water? Are you skimming?

im also starting to get a problem with green algea, not hair.. my tank has been established for 2 months now and theres just one yellow tang in there with a few snails and hermits. i feed him one square inch of dry marco every 2 days. he just nibbles on it all day long. ive also cut down on my lighting, i was doing 12hours a day, so i cut it down to 9hours.

g3x5,
New tanks will go through many unwanted stages, if you keep up on your water changes, don't stock it to quickly, and don't overfeed everything will balance out and your tank will become very stable.
I have had my cube for a while and it was established for about two years before I got it. I have went over a month with no water changes (not recomended) and chemistry barely waivered.
Just stick with it and all will come out right.

I bought a new protein skimmer and its been running for a almost a week now and it is unbelievable how much of a difference it made. all of our levels are perfect now and there is very little algae. god bless protein skimmers.

I also have a problem with green hair algae and it's driving me nuts. I keep picking it off of LR and it's growing back. I've had the tank since Sept but this started growing I think around January or so. I am using an RO/DI filter - I got it off ebay from Water General - it's the RD 106 model. Anyone else have this filter? How is your tank doing?
