Hey everybody! I was looking at my live rock today, and I noticed a small tree stump like thing attached to it. What could this be? I was thinking maybe a feather duster? It ddin't have the crown like a duster, but I heard that when extremely stressed, they will fall off of it, and it was probably pretty hard on it going straight into my aquarium.

no they are too small and my camera doesn't work well on the whole glass/flash thing. I am new to this (not to mention only 13 years old!) and don't know what it could be. But at the LFS where I bought it, they had feather dusters on them as well...so maybe a feather duster? But it looks sort of fleshy and is only about 1/2 an inch tall. My hermits leave them alone from what I can tell. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

That's a tough one... how long have you had the rock??

I just got the rock that has the stumps on it for a day. I was wondering if that was long enough for it to grow. But I think all the live rock at the LFS had feather dusters on them so...

I'm sure you're right... with any luck maybe some will grow from the rock!!

it looks sort of fleshy, and looks like if I touched it it might break.
