I've seen this thing in my tank now for about a month. It seems to move around, and is irredescent enough to get my attention, although it is not even a quarter inch tall. This photo was taken at super macro and was about 6 inches from the tank glass. I've zoomed in pretty far so you can see it's structure. Any ideas?

I sure can't guess either! Can you get a shot from a bit farther away, just for reference?

Me neither, never seen anything like that.
Possibly a foreign object!

Agree....How does it move? Do you think it is alive???? Might just need to remove it...

It seems to move from spot to spot, although I haven't seen it actually move. I took a few more photos this evening and will upload them in a bit. The shap e changes as well. Stay tuned...

Here is the photo I took this evening. Notice the shape has changed, it is in a different place in the tank, but is the same color. I also noticed another thing in the tank, but it is too far away to get a clear shot.

I'm going with the toothpaste Idea!!!!! :) Have no guess here... Looks un-natural.... Probably from outer space!!!!! :)

LOL! I swear, I don't have anything foreign in my tank and it's not toothpaste. I don't think I've ever seen toothpaste that color. This thing seems to come out when I feed the fish and corals. I've got the larger photos of the tank with this thing in it if you don't believe me. I'm not really worried about it. Just thought it was cool and would share with others.
Of course, if it gets bigger, I'll be back! :)

mhazel,
Keep an eye on it, and yeah, if it gets bigger, report back and let us know. Altough I'm still sticking with the idea, that it hasn't come from a marine enviroment and its been introduced accidently or something...possibly plastic or something. You'll see as time passes.

I'm going to take as many photos over the next couple weeks as I can. My thought on the plastic thing:
1. I don't have anything plastic in my house that color, let alone anything I would put into my tank.
2. The shape changes (note different shapes in two photos).
3. It always seems to stem from an area of rock or sand. I've never seen it floating in the water column.
I'll keep you posted...
