I would like some help choosing my next Tang... I really don't have any restriction as my tank will hold any Tang basically… I have a yellow and a purple…. I would like one more… Let me know what you think would be a good choice!!!!

I voted Achilles. I think they're the most elegant looking tangs out there. Other than that my other pick would be a Chevron if only they were not so pricey.

I voted for the yelloweye. The spotted face and lined body are really eye catching. Plus, after consulting my Marine Fishes book to look at your choices, I see that the Achilles may have a tendency to nip at LPS and is given a 3 out of 5 hardiness rating as opposed to the yelloweye's 4 out of 5 and an excelllent rating as a reef compatible fish.

I would vote for a clown tang. They are aggressive, but your tank should be big enough. They are really striking when full-grown, too!

It was between the Achiles or the Powder Blue ... I like the blue better in the form that it will stand out a little more ... unless you would like one that blends in more then I would choose the achiles then

I saw a red sea Sailfin Tang today at one of our many LFS's and thought it was really great... I am suprized that no one has voted for it yet.... What are your thoughts????

I voted achilles. I saw a full grown one at my LFS and it was just one of the coolest fish ever. Do you have any kinds of large angels? Some of those are pretty neat too.

No... What angel would you recommend in a reef setting???? So many of them are clam nippers, and lps sps eaters!!!!!

The red sea sailfin looks nice but you have two tangs with the same body style .... about the angels .... I'm not sure if there is any that can go in a reef except for the dwarfs like the Flame angel

Yes, I do know about the body shape and stuff... But I have a fairly large system with about 290lbs of LR.....Sometimes you can get by with bending a few rules... Remember I am just thinking this through right now and your point is well taken!!!! I have learned a long time ago to take things slow.... I don't want to intruduce a fish then have to try and remove him.... To much rock....to much work.... Ouch!!!! :) Any other comments on the Red Sea Sailfin??? Or a different tang??? Please Vote!!! Help me out here!!!

WOW  ... that is alot of rock you have there!!!!! Yeah I wouldn't wish that upon anybody ..... catching a fish in your tank that is!!! I worked at a pet store for 5 years ... so I know what it is like. Do you like different looking fish or are you more of a color guy. I'm more a different person .... like the chevron or sailfin would draw my attention more.

I do like color... I have a purple and yellow tang... but I also like diversity and different... The Red Sea Sailfin always catches my eye and I like the chevron... My problem is I would like one of each… that is one of each tang out there as I really like tangs… but that will not work!!!! So I know I can get one more and be ok!! A friend of mine has a 240 gal tank and has 4 tangs in it and they do fine… I have a 300 so I would like to bump my system to 3…. Just having a hard time deciding on the right one!!!… The Achiles is another one of my favorites!!!!

Wow... I am wanting a little more help here guys.... Any one else have a favorite tang... SO far the Achiles Surgeonfish has the most votes...
Some one here like the Red Sea Sailfin Tang??? Give me the pro's and con's on this fish....Why no votes for this Tang????
Same results for the Sohal Surgeonfish... Why no votes for this remarkable tang???

RS Sailfin Tang is a great fish, is widely known as Desjardini tang. Never had one but know a few people who own one and love them. Very active.
Sohal tangs are beautiful, along with achilles are my favorite tangs, only thing is that they can become a PITA because of their agressive nature especially after being in the tank for a long time.
Not so easy to choose a fish, is it?

Heheh.... Yeah... not easy to pick a fish... That's why we call on all the experts here at CF!!! I sure don't want to make a mistake and have to remove the fish later... What a pain!!! I have kept the yellow, purple, blue, powder blue, but these others I have not kept... So far thanks for the information!! Any one else care to chime in???? :)

The red or pacific sailfins are nice a looking fish so out of your list I would vote that one. Have you seen a Mimic Lemonpeel Tang. I will add a picture of that and the sailfin I am thinking of.
