My hammer coral is not openning as full as it use to and also I noticed the front part of it looks to have a spot where it looks to be dead / nothing there
all water areas are good ,checked everything and anything and all is well
the only did I did do was put some of that garlic you can buy to soak food in because I had a fish that was sick (he's all better)
other then that like I said all is well that I know of
He's been in the same spot for about two or three months and was fine
per the book I bought states indirect light and indirect water flow is best so I do have it in an area I feel is good for this coral ,anything else that could be going on that I should check for??????????
all other corals doing well, flower potts-open brains-bubbles-polypes-tongue-chili pepper-christmas tree

Do you check calcium levels? If not, you need to.
But, it could just be a reaction to the garlic. Try a 20% water change and see if that helps.

What kind of water movement do you have around this hammer??? They do need some movement... Sounds like you have some!!! Turn it a little and see what happens...

Once everyone was convinced that my hammer was dead. I had faith and it just remained, how can I say, dormant, for a few months. Came back bigger and better. Now, if there are no secondary indicators, sometimes things die, sometimes they retreat, somtimes they go dormant. Makes one appreciate god more, keeping a reef tank.

Mine still looks good just not as fully opened as ive seen it and theres like an are about half inch or maybe less that there is nothing there so I thought maybe something is going on
Now I dont have it in direct flow and it sits at the half way mark from the bottom of tank
Ive had it for about , taking a guess as I cant remember i,m going to say three months
its been doing well all along ,about a month ago I decided to raise it about another few inches as I added a few more pieces of rock and wanted it to be more level with the other corals

I have a Frog Spawn that I thought was dead.....it had three branches, all of which shrivled up to nothing....it was a ROCK!....I was about to take the piece out to make room for somehting else....I noticed one tiny polyp on one of the branches......with in a few weeks, was all back bigger than it had ever been!....never figured out why it retreated.

well its safe to say the hammer expired, when it closes for wheat ever reason it would go back in side its (not sure what you call it) rock or skeleton
Last night when I got home it was hanging out ,drewed down like a dead plant and it was dead
I picked it up and took it out, just stayed that way, dont know what happened, was doing well, had for about three or four months, all other corals doing well
