I have a yellow leather I bought a couple weeks ago. It was big and vibrant at the store but has never really blossomed since I brought it home. Now it is turning brown in spots and curling up. I have tried it in both my 55 gal. (I have a hammer, hard corals, shrooms, frog spawn - you name it) in the tank that have all thrived. I just put it in my nano two days ago (plate corals, shrooms, brains etc) and it still looks like it is going to die. Please help I spent $60 on this thing! THe nano has been runnig since Aug. and the 55 gal a few months after. HELP! Thanx

I had some trouble with a large toadstool. It got to the point where it was taking more and more "days off" without openning until it finally stopped openning altogether. It slumped over, had what looked like cigarette burns on its underside, turned greyish, and algae started growing on it. It really looked like it wouldn't make it. MikeS suggested that I do an iodine dip, which I did. It perked back up, shedded heavily, and has never taken a day off from extending polyps since. So, you might try that!

Ditto's with the dip..... Very important and might stimulate it to open again... Mine doesn't take time off anymore either...
It is happy as can be!!!

Here is mine as it is recovering after the dip.

Here it is today, I took the pic under actinics because it's grown so tall and it was reflecting too much light to see clearly.

say I fill an 8oz. cup with water from my tank how many drops of iodine should I add? And how long or often should I dip?

Okay, I did 10 drops of reef iodine per quart of tank water for 15 minutes. That translates into 2.5 drops in 8 ounces of water. Things would be a lot easier if you could use two 8 ounce cups and do five drops!
