View Full Version : about strawberry crabs

i'm about to buy a strawberry crabs and some reef hermit crabs and cleaner shrimp.....question is will this inverts get along? and what other inverts that i can put in my tank of 65gal? i don't want any fighting or eating between them. thanks in advance whoever have some info or suggestions

i have no personal experience with these guys but according to this link they are peaceful

but as MikeS often points out crabs are opportunistic feeders and can develop a taste for somethings you may not want them to eat

Agree with Mike!!!! They can take a likeing to things you want to keep!!!! :)

Agreed...the strawberry crab is a scavenger...it may decide to scavange some of your polyps... :-D

On the hermits...the only one I have encountered that has been unproblematic in my reef is the Scarlet Reef hermit. This is not to say they are completely reef safe, they are scavengers as well. Just don't overdo it...1-3 of them in a say 55 gallon tank us usually plenty...that way there is plenty of food for them without them resorting to feasting on things you don't want them to...

if you just want a crab in the tank to look at, the porcelin crab is a truely reef safe crab, as it is a filter feeder...

thanks everyone for all the info....i'll probably get porcelin crab instead and a few scarlet hermit crabs.....but in terms of shrimp, what are type of shrimp that get a long with each other cause i want to get a variety of them?
