I bought a blue starfish a couple days ago- and left him at the lfs- I will be bringing him home today- whats the best way to acclimate him? Thanks!

same as almost all fish. Inverts are more sensitive to salinity changes than anything else.
So just float the bag for 15min. and then begin either your drip method or adding 1/2 cup every 10 mins.

Good luck!

It's best to acclimate stars for about 2 hours, so take your time! Don't expose it to air either.

These starfishes (and most others) generally starve in tanks. I think you would be better off buying something else.
This is an interesting article worth reading too:

I assume your talking about a blue linckia star. I agree you should drip them for 2-3 hours. I had one for over a year that did very well. it grew a lot too. I would think you will be ok as long as your tank is well established. REMEMBER NEVER TOUCH a linckia! I did not know this when I had mine but their is something in/on human skin that is toxic to them.

I would have to agree with sugars advice if you have to have one ,but I also agree with Romunov's advice to most starfish feed on thing that our tanks just don't proved, they will do good in big tanks that have been established for a while, but in smaller tanks and new tanks they usualy, don't last long.

I have a burgandy star that has been in my 42 corner for over a year and is doing great! It's even grown some.

I have had my blue linckia now for about 4 years.... It has done well...Started in my 125 now loves the 300... Here is a link that tells about the care of this very nice addition to an established tank!!! Just on a side note you can feed these stars... and they will love some chopped meaty foods....
