I was browsing through www.Garf.org and found this interesting article under the pests folder and they argue that the cute "harmless" Asterina Sp. starfish have been found to prey on corals mostly on SPS.

An article worth reading specially if you've been scratching your head as to why your SPS are not thriving.

I've come across many of those articles that state that asterinas will eat sps and some soft corals. So far, I have not experienced any damage to any of my corals, just the coraline algae.

There are different types of Asterina stars. Most are harmless algae eaters... certainly something to watch for though.

Never had any issues with Asterina stars at all..although I've seen some in other tanks.
