I am ready to do some propogation for the first time (acros and softies). I have read a lot of articles on it, but first hand knowledge may help me. Is there anyone in Atlanta I could meet up with for a quick lesson?

johnmackay70,

Looks as if if you haven't found someone locally....you should just give it a try with some softies...

www.garf.org - they actually have some good video's on propagation that you should watch, its like seeing it in person ;) Good luck.

Thanks for the info...

Well, I just did a small acreo frag, and all went well until i tried to anchor it to a piece of tonga using AquaStick epoxy hputy. I was being dumb...after kneeding it together I didn't was the residue off of my fingerers and when I pushed the acro into the putty I "slimed" the acro.
I was able to get most of it off with a turkey baster after it started to cure, but not all. I hope I haven't done any perminant damage.

You live and you learn.

You don't have to lose some things, buts better to experience things and learn from the mistakes you make.

Post it there. I am in Atlanta. but it's pretty easy. I suggest you visit Imagine Ocean in Canton and talk to Jenn.

Where you at?

Todd

Thanks Todd,

I think my acro is going to make it. it looks pretty descent now, but the epoxy mound I made looks terrible. I think I am going to let the acro recover for a while, remove it from the epoxy and try superglue.

I found the ARC is having a prop demonstration on feb 8th. I am going to try to attend.

By the way i am in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area.

My Acro is looking great. I got it out of the mess it was in, drilled a small hole in a piece of LR and super glued it in. It went so well that I got a branching hammer frag and did the same for it.

johnmackay70,

Glad to hear that.

Sometimes with Acro's, you should shave back some of the skin and outer polyp area, to the actual skeleton, on larger pieces, and then you can glue directly onto the skeleton into the LR, this works well..if you know what I mean?
