well i got the lights done and have to say they make a world of difference, 2x13w 6500k bulbs and 2x13w actinic 03 bulbs, i see now what people mean about the 6500ks being to yellow but with the actinics it seems just right

this is actinics and 6500k, i'm going to try the actinics with 2 50/50 bulbs but i think it will be just to much blue

That looks awesome! I really like the separate actinics.

i really like the seperate actinics too all my other lights have been 50/50 bulbs so i really enjoy the effect when the 6500ks go off

That looks great! I'm so glad you posted the way it looks with the actinic bulbs on their own. You must be thrilled with how bright that baby is!

yeah its so bright it really showcases the cyano that i imported from the 29g tank, i moved the brown polyps on the left from the other tank and didn't notice the cyano on the rock they are attached to :(

I have the exact same problem! I beat the cyano in my 'fuge, so it's hardly there anymore, but it seems that the sand I used for the nano had plenty in it, because the nano has slime now! I'm going to try the chaeto with 24/7 lighting in the HOB filter and see if I can't starve it out. I'm sad to see I'm not the only one with a cyano-nano!

i've got cyano and green hair algea in my nano but i'm pulling out the gha and feeding very sparingly and only using distilled water so i hope to starve it out

looks great, I love the balance of 6500K and Actinic light....not to mention it's the best spectrum mix for coral growth...

Matt,
I did a tiny mod to my HOB filter to make it a tiny refugium on my tiny tank. It doesn't have any macro algae or a light on it yet, so I can't tell you if it will work, but I can't see why it wouldn't. When I have finished creating the 'fuge, I'll post how I did it, but Sugar Magnolia already has a running post on a similar project (but nicer than my ghetto 'fuge), so you might follow that one.

I'm going this weekend to pick up a little more LR for the nano and when i put it in the tank i'm going to pull the old rock out and try and scrub alot of the hair algea off, i need to pick up some more snails too it seems the ones in the nano are suicidal a couple climbed out the back and i found them dead, i guess i need to fabricate some sort of snail gaurd, oh the work never ends :doubt:
