Well, I got a very small piece of what I'm 95% sure is ricordia, and I was trying to break up a hermit crab fight that was going on in the bottom of the tank. Well, my Ricordia decided it wanted to stick to my hand, and after I finally got it off my hand, my hand began to tingle where the ricordia had touched, this happened yesterday, and I feel fine, I'm just wondering if they have a sting, even if it is a mild one, or if it is just my imagination. Thanks, Lumpia

Ricordia are cnidarians (stinging celled animals). Through the family, there are animals that pack more of a punch than others, but they are all stinging celled. In the mushroom (corallimorphian) family, I have smooth mushrooms and ricordia that I can handle, and a rhodactis that stings the heck out of me! It boils down to how much sensitivity YOU have. I would bet that a ricordia stuck to the back of my hand would give me a rash, but I'm a sensitive kinda girl. Did that answer your question?

Yes it did, thank you!!!

It only caused a very mild, almost non-exsistent tingling on the side of my hand where it touched me. Was just curious if I was bein a frady-cat, or if it was a genuine concern, as I have a couple of urchins that are none-too-pleasant to have touch you. Thanks for the reply.
