Right now im trying to decide what type of lighting to put on my MB7. Im thinking im gonna start off with a 32 w retro fit and then upgrade with MH. Is 32 watts of PC enough to keep most corals and anenomes except sps and clams?

Not familiar with the tank....MB7, is that 7 gallons?

Under PC alone, you are best to stick with softies and maybe some hardy LPS. Clams, SPS, and anemones will all need more intense lighting....

Agreed and I think anything bigger than a 70 watt halide is way too much, except for maybe a clam and sps only tank. A tank that small I would not suggest an anenome of anykind as it will get too big and will be the only thing you can keep in there except maybe a clown. I think the best advice came from MikeJS.

I also have a 40 gallon reef. I can move anemones to the 40 once they are too big.

I kept monitpora digitata successfully with growth under 32 watts of PC lighting for months before I upgraded to 70 watts MH for my old minibow.

keep in mind that 70 watts of MH over such a small tank produces alot ot heat. I had it sitting across the top of the tank with only about 2" of clearance between the water and the fixture and it did produce ALOT of heat. Consider going the pendant route and hanging it about 8" off the surface of the water, or ask Mattgecko (member here)about building you a custom canopy. He makes incredible canopies for minibows and can custom wire the ballasts for the lighting in it.
