Well I added 12 lbs of live rock to my refuge in my sump about 2 weeks ago, this is after I kept it in a 7 gal bucket for a while (about 1 week, as it was already cured) Well anyway, lately I've noticed piles about an inch high of small ball shaped greenish things, its looks slightly like what is around holes where ants live (if that helps at all... lol). Does anybody know what this is... its kinda driving me crazy.
Thanks,
Max

hmmm....my first guess would be excremented material from worms living in the LR.
Can you describe the conditions you "cured" your LR in the bucket?

Umm it was salt water, RO filtered, not heated, 2 air stones (acting as water movement/skimmer/ oxygen source)

in the tank now? SG is at about 1.025 (last time checked, before I added water to compensate for evaporation) temp 79-81, ph 8.2 Nitrate <10ppm nitrite 0, ammonia (i havent checked in about a week, due to the fact that it was at 0 for the last 2 weeks or so, but i'll check again now). And I'm getting ready for a water change (about 12 gal.) the last one was about a week ago.

1.024<SG<1.023 so approx 1.0235, and the ammonia levels are still being tested but about 7 minutes into the test, its looking 0mg/l
**UPDATE :Test is complete - ammonia levels are at O.

sounds good, looks like your water is ok...
I would not be too concerned, I still stick with my worm excrement guess....

ok thats good to hear, well should i just leave it and let it decay, or should I remove it somehow?

You can siphon it off, that way you are exporting those nutrients...however leaving it there should not cause any real harm...

i have a Q, why did you not heat the curing bucket, are you in a warm climate, LR needs the heat (around 80deg) so that it can remain as LR, if all the critters and stuff die because it is to cold for them it wouldnt be LR any more, just wandering :)
