Hi,
I saw in a lot of stores the people keep the salinity 1.017 or 1.014
they said this keep the parazites away and this salinity do not stress the fish to much.
Do you think I can keep my FO like this ?
thanks

hmmm...IMO, I wouldn't go quite that low all the time...I'd shoot for around 1.023....

I think for a fish only I would go for 1.020 with a reef tank 1.023-1.025
Your right its less stress on the fish and parasites have a harder time as the salinity goes down

so, Now I'm keeping the salinity at 1.016
Do you think is to low or it's fine ? (fish only)
But for how long do I need to keep the low salinity in my tank ? This can be forever ?
thanks

I personally wouldnt, but thats just me. I keep mine at 1.024 to 1.026.
It does keep some parasites away, but its not the best environment for the fish I would think. Some stores also run copper through all their tanks between .15 to .20. Again, its nother fight against parasites that the fish can stand, just not a long period of time. Stores dont keep them long enough for the low salinity (or copper) to harm them.
This is my opinion. Hope it helps.

a bit too low for me too...i would keep it at least 1.023....depending on heat fluctuations...alot of stores do it over here too, cos the heat fluctuates alot, which makes the salinity rise....but 1.017 is far lower than normal...
