Hi all

I'd like to hear from those of you who are keeping clams under lights other than MH....please tell us what kind of clam, how long you have had it, details about your lights (wattage, type, ect...) details on care (feeding, ect) and any problems you have had keeping them...

Photos would be nice....

Mike, I kept several Tridacna Miximas in a 75 gallon tank over 440 watts of VHO. They did pretty good in there the 13-14 months I had them there. Growth was okay, color was respectable. They were at varing levels of placement in the rock work varing from a couple of inches off the bottom to about 6 inches from the surface.

These were later moved to my 135 with Halides and colored up a bit more than previously, although nothing particularly earth shattering.

well as you know I had a blue and gold crocea clam under my VHO's for 3 month's till it out grew my tank,it grew a good inch under that lighting in that short of time, and I was only dosing my tank at that time with DT's and zoo plex from kent Marine.
you can use this picture if you like.
and I use to have a hippopus clam under my PCF's that I had in my old 29 gal tank,I had him for about 2 years in there and it grew from 2" too about 5 1/2" in that time.and I fed it the same as I fed the crocea. Know pictures of it though I did'nt have a digital camera at that time,,,now that I mention it I don't even think they were out back then......hehe. that was a FOWLR tank I had.
