hey i finaly think i can set up a mantis tank :)

im ordering a mantis shrimp off of www.saltwaterfish.com

good deal only 10$ and free shipping :)

i will put it in a 2 gallon hexagon tank with a 13 watt PC and feed him shrimp, crabs OR fish depending on what type of mantis he is, etc.

would he be ok in just rubble peices? or do they need a hole to live in. ill also put in some macro for looks. does this sound like a good idea?

How about possibly using a 5.5, i think a 2 gallion hex is to small for a mantis as they can get quite large.

the mantis im going to order is one inch long. will he be ok in the hex until i can get a 5.5 gal?


also do you know anything about needing a hole for the mantis to live in? or can i just put in rubble rocks

try to get him a nice piece of live rock with holes and caves, the macro is a good idea as well. since this tank is so small i would be worried of pollution from the mantis killing other inhabitants u might feed him. Iw ould just start him with a 5.5 or if you really a can a 10 gallon would be perfect. p.s matt call me.lol

I have heard good things about corals that come from Saltwaterfish.com. I have considered ordering from them also. I just thought I'd give you a heads up that their free shipping comes with a $79 minimum order and a $9.99 surcharge. If all you're getting is the mantis, you might do better to find one locally. Maybe your LFS will get one in for you. Or, just order more cool stuff to bump up your order's price!
