Okay, I finally settled on a rock layout that I believe will serve as a good foundation for future coral, provides good hiding places for my fish, and also aesthetically pleasing (at least to me)

The first picture is how I had it before. I was attempting to go for that open lagoon look. I think it looked clean and simple, but maybe not so functional? All subsequent pictures after are what I have currently.

What made the aquascaping so difficult for this tank is that it is more tall than it is wide: 18x15x12 (H x W x D) - 14 gallon.

Comments and critiques, please! (even if you hate what i've done to the tank - maybe you might have suggestions on how I might be able to improve? I'm a humble dude)

Also, if you see the top of my tank, there's a custom PC fixture attached on the top which is only 18W x 2. I know this is not going to be enough if I'm going to attempt corals in this tank. I've been searching high and low for an alternative lighting solution; something i can mount on the frame of the tank (i don't want to hang). Help please!!! (I should've never taken the advice of my LFS... all i get is wrong advise, even down to the tank selection! but i'm stuck with it for now)

Other junx i have in my nano:

- Aqua C Remora protein skimmer
- 2 x Rio 180 powerheads (eventually will switch those out to maxi-jets)
- 1 microjet in the back for waterflow behind the tank
- approx 25 lbs of Florida Key liverock

I actually think both are great. That large piece on the left would be perfect to glue zoos or gsp to and have them cover the entire rock.

looks good....only thing I might do if it was my tank was lean the tall rock on the left over a bit so it is resting on the main pile...JMO....looks good anyway! :D

I like the new layout as well. Your tank is definitely a unique size, who made it and what model?

Thanks,

yo troy... sorry for taking so long to respond.

i picked up the tank at my LFS

it's an aquavia 468 tank.

it's pretty difficult to find. i just happened to stumble across it.
looking in retrospect, i wish i bought a more wider tank. i think the tank looks uber cool, but it was difficult trying to squeeze the rock in and a wider tank would've given fish some more swimming room.

anyways, i'm about to post up some new pics on my tank!

thanks for the comment!

No problem, after looking through some mags I figured yours was an AquaVia. I've yet to see one in person though they definitely look cool. What are you using to light your aquarium since it's so deep?

Thanks again,
-Troy
