Do any of you have PCI express motherboards or video cards? I'm trying to do some research close at hand here if it's worth upgrading for speed yet. I currently have a 256MB geforce FX5600xt video card w/ vivo on a asus P4 8x AGP board. I'm a big LAN gamer, I don't play a lot but when I do I strive for a better than average game. Latest was Farcry, and my video was not the greatest. But neither was the ATI 256MB 9800xt's preformance that was sitting right next to me at the time TIA

Don't know if it will help, but when my whatchamacalit on the whirligig starts to whine and whir, I check the thingamabob and then call the whosiwhatsit for help. Hope this helps some.

Hahaha. Well, I understand what you are talking about, but I haven't really stayed current on all the internal PC components. I found a long time ago that it was much easier for me to just use pre-built name brand systems.
Sorry. :doubt:

awwwhha I'm shocked, j/k, well thought I fix more problems than you will ever know I still understand. Pci Express is a replacement of the Pci technology as we knoew.. the modem we use to connect at 52kbps, or the notwork card that gives us use of the roadrunner we have that more thatn like been used accross PCI. PCI is limited to 32 bit connection, well AGP is a dedicated video card slot that is currently up to 8x the currect transfer rate. So PCI express is design to replace everything. not only video but reagular usage of PCI// 16x the transfer spead of what was before

I have to agree with Telcoguy. I do understand what you are talking about and personally run a PCI motherboard, but I forget what the brand is, that has both integrated ram sharing vidwo and a PCI video card. I run a knock off of the voodooII card, and then I stopped trying to make it bigger and better. That system is currently retired and I bought an emachines desktop, a gateway desktop and a Toshiba laptop. Definately easier to tell someone what I want and let them worry about putting it together. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Good luck.

I'm a pc techy. I build and fix, both consumer and business systems. And well I work on high end printers as well, it's the only cost effective printer repair now days since they are so consumable

I used to build and fix as well while I was going through college. This was when the AMD 586 133Mhz was the bomb, and no-one ever heard of a 1GB hard drive.

too fast IMO. Think I will just stick with what I have for now and once the mainframes come back then I will think of buying another.
