new protein skimmer

i just got a new protein skimmer and it is making lots of little bubbles go into my tank. how do i fix this. do i let more air or water in or both. also the little tornado of bubbles only goes half way up the tube instead of to the top. im not sure if thats right or not but any help would be great. its a turbo vortex 100. thanks

the skimmer is probably just breaking in.....most new skimmers do this....give it a few days or so....

I agree with Mike. When I first set mine up and got it working I was appalled at the amount of bubbles that It put into the water, to the point that i was ready to take it right back out. I let it run for a week or so and the bubbles chilled out and it started to pull out some nasty crap, so give it some time.

If you have a sump or refugium you could move it there and get less bubble too. The bubbles only going up half way is normal. Once the nasty stuff strats accumulating on top of the bubbles it will work just fine.
