Ive been on the 2 part calcium regiment for about 3 weeks and ive seen no increase in my levels. I thought i was testing wrong so i brought it to the store i frequent and they said my levels were "close to nothing". Do you think this is because i have low magnesium levels. And if so how could i fix this. Get a magnesium additive?

What is your PH and your ALk levels? This may be part of your problems.

It's possible your magnesium could be low....many salt mixes don't contain NSW levels of magnesium. But be sure to get a test kit and adjust the magnesium levels properly....don't just add magnesium, overdoses can be bad.

What are your exact levels of calcium, Alk? What additive are you using?

These are the ideal levels...

Ca 400-450ppm
Alk 2.5-4.0 meq/L or 7-11 dKH
Magnesium 1200-1300 ppm

Another thing to remeber if you are using a 2 part supplement such as b-ionic or KentAB which i do recommend these items are great for keeping levels where they should be but are not the best thing to use to raise low levels. While it can be done you will need to add more than the recommended dosage sometimes by far. To raise calcium I use calcium chloride and to raise alk I use a buffer such as Kent Superbuffer. Also it is always a good idea to buffer your fresh water you use to top off the tank with.
