Which hermit crab are the safer for a reef tank i read that the Red legged hermit doesnt eat purple coraline algea and in all is gentle where the blue legged hermit crab is a better cleaner but bigger and more apt to nock things over and be aggresive toward smaller fish along with eating purple coraline algea and i would like lots of coraline algea

I have both in my aquarium and I have not had any problems with either of them.

I've got both as well, with no problems. One of my red-legged's dwarfs all my other ones and he likes to pick on his little brothers...turning them over, pinning them down, etc.

Have you noticed if either one eats the purple coraline algea that is my biggest concern

Never seen my hermits eating the coralline...I think urchins will eat coralline, never heard of hermits being a nuisance like that. Anyway..their benefits far outway any problems they might create.

By far, the most "reef-safe" hermit is the Scarlet Reef Hermit. Red legs and blue legs (although some never have problems with them) generally tend to be a bit more problematic than scarlets.
