What type of 'reef life' are you referring to? Such as sponges and coralline algae? I'm guessing so...if you want to grow that, you'll need to seed your liverock that your making with some liverock from an online vendor, or thru your local fish store. Go into further detail, if I didn't catch your question right.

Check out Garf.org (www.garf.org). They have a lot of good information on coral propagation.

As far as GARF is concerned most of the info you'll find on the "How to Pages", at least that's how I get by their extensive site.
GARF is by far and away the best place and like said earlier the "How To" pages is where you will find most of the info. They have it from Mushrooms, Capnella, Xenia, Colt Coral, Zoanthids, Gorgonians, , Leathers, SPS corals, its just about all there except LPS corals. While their site is a bit confusing to navagate if you havent spent any real time on their site, its a fold mine of information and the best by far that I have found on the 'net.
