I work in a shop that makes custom printed circuit boards and I just found out that our shop uses 12,000 gallons of ro/di water per day!! They would not mind me taking the small amount I am interested in but I want to make sure the procedure is ok for my tank.

First the water is sent through a carbon treatment.
Then it goes through a softener.
next it goes through the RO membrane and followed by a DI unit.

Would this be ok to use in my fish tank???? Is there any questions I should ask to be sure? Right now I use tap water and mix with oceanic salt is there anything else I need to add to RO water?? What about buffers and such?

Thanks,
Whiskey

yes.....that's the stuff you want! Free RO/DI....can't beat that! Check it periodically to make sure it is free of nitrate and phoshate...

right on, Do I need to add anything other than the salt to make it safe for the tank? Is there any buffers to buy or kh rasers or anything?

Thanks,

there is a buffer/ additive from varies companies that you can use to put all the good stuff back into the ro/di water such as calcium, magnesium, etc.
Other than that that, there is nothing else u need, since everything is taken out with the ro filter......from phosphates, nitrates, to chlorine.
