Do you use a spray bar in your aquarium and have you noticed any benefits?
This was my latest DIY project and I've been pretty happy with it so far. I used a MP600 with @20" of 1" ID pvc attached to the output. I drilled 6 holes in the pvc to coincide with the way I have my rock set-up.
Anyone using a different design?

I havent really noticed a real difference in using a spray bar vs not using one.
I have one that is 5 ft long and 3/4 inch in diameter that has a Mag5 hooked up to it. It does move the water around pretty good in conjunction with the other powerheads installed. I have seen no reason to discontinue using it.

heres the spraybar i made for my 220g fw tank, the tank is 30'' deep so i was concerned about no circulation in the lower part of the tank, this is connected to a diy wet/dry with a 1100gph return pump

I guess the spraybar's purpose is to provide current to areas that normally would receive very little flow and to keep detritus, food, etc from settling on the backside of your rock. I've seen some designs with the spraybar at the top, near the water line...is that to provide surface agitation (aid in gas exchange) or just another means of current?

both i would think, since i have a hob overflow and a sump on my tank i'm not to concerned with gas exchange but i do have a small ph pointed across the back of the tank to make sure theres no dead spots behind the lr

I am currently using a spray bar on a maxi jet powerhead in my aquarium. got the idea from my LFS, and it is working very well.
