I have a Condi Anemone that never seems to learn that getting sucked into a power head is not a good idea. It has happened about 3 times now. This Anemone has been in the tank for over a month. After the first time, I placed a sponge at the power head intake, see pic. It still managed to get sucked in between the sponge and the intake so I placed a rubber band around the sponge. After a few weeks of success, I found it sucked in between some crack in the power head as you can see in the attached pic. This time I thought it was a goner for sure since when I removed it since some of the tentacles were decapitated and it was all shriveled up. But it seems to have survived again, it’s was back to it’s full size by sun set and looks great again this morning. I am even thinking of removing the sponge since it is less harm full to it when it gets sucked in there, not to mention a lot lass work having to clean that sponge on 3 different power heads every few days.

Does anyone else with an Anemone that loves power heads have a suggestion on what else I can do ? I am beginning to wonder if it get a “high” from the strong currents of the power head ! I know one of these days it will get an overdoes !

I have seen some people make a small cage made out of egg crate material. That they placed around there powerheads to protect there anemones.

Are you running a skimmer or what other way are you using to get oxygen into the water? that's usally why the Anemone goes to the powerhead it needs more oxygen, water movement, highest spot for more intence light,
anemones are a reef critter and like high in oxygen water. and if they don't have it they'll look for water movment.

I've lost anemones to powerheads, filter intakes, and heaters...

they roam around until they find a spot they are happy with, sometimes that takes them too close to powerheads...
