Paradise Aquatics is where I get my fish and everything you need. This place has the cleanest tanks and awesome showpiece tanks. Jason told me to add kalk every other day to the tank and the corals will take off. He admits he learns daily and he started doing this in his tanks at his shop, and boy do they look good.
I put half a tsp in a one gallon jug, shake it up and let it sit for about 3 minutes and then slowly add it to my sump. I repeat this like I said every other day. It seems to be working and my corals are looking better and seem to be growing.

My tank is 175 gallon with approx. 16 corals and is about 5 months old. I guess im asking is this ok or is there a downside to this that I should be aware of. Also some advice to others that are having a problem with their corals. Is this a good thing? It seems so far that it is. Ive been getting great advice on this forum, thats why im posting this, thanks.

Robert kalk adds calcium and alkalinity to your tank water. I would suggest doing tests for those two elements before going to far with it. Having to much in your water can turn your tank the other way in a hurry. Kalk is a great way to suppliment these elements but only do so when your tank needs them

hope it helps

Mojoreef has a good point. Its very easy to go way over board with Kalkwasser even doseing every other day. I would be very conservative when adding something to my tank that I can not test for.

Yes it most definitely will give your corals a good wake up call in most cases. I started dripping Kalk a few months ago and the difference has been absolutely increadible. Normally I let my mix stand for 12 hours at least, before adding to my tank.

The amount of kalk you need to add to your tank is a function of how fast calcium and alk levels drop in your tank. My tank is full of high calcium useage critters and coralline, so I need to use strong kalk as all my top-off water to keep my levels near normal. 400-450ppm calcium, 2.5-4.0 meq/L alk.

You need to let the kalk settle for at least 6 hours before adding it to your tank. I'd also make a dosing botte so you can drip it, rather than just pouring it into your sump.

Dripping it helps keep your pH from swinging too quickly, and also allows you to keep the kalk residue out of your tank. The residue can contian metals and other things you don't want in your tank.

I've used kalkwasser for 4 years now, it works good for me. You need to check your calcium, alkalinity, and pH pretty regularly. Also, kalk can drive down your magnesium levels, you'll need to monitor and adjust those as well.
