Ok just to change the subject a little...

For those of you who follow basketball (and those who don't), do you think is OK for high school kids to be able to enter the NBA draft?

Good question. Hard to say. I guess it would depend on a number of things. I agree that there is a problem with these kids thinking that they could "Win the Lottery" with an NBA contract and only a very few actually end up being an NBA star.

Another issue that has been brought up is the potential for a young player getting hurt. That is an issue that the NBA needs to address, but it would probably have to be on a case by case basis.

Ultimately, we do live in a free country and if a Highschool student is big enough and good enough to play in the NBA they have the right to apply.

If they have the skill to play in the NBA god bless them becuase in the long run it will affect them and they will regret it.

The problem I see with these young kids coming in so early is that most of them end up loosing more than what they can get.

Sure we have Kevin Garnett, Kobe, LeBron, but for every one of them there's 10-15 other kids that never made it to the level of the NBA, sure they were drafted, but ended up playing for a minimum $$ contract for a year. On top of that they missed the opportunity to play college hoops forever which eventually could've given them the maturity and depth on their game to really excel and would've given them an opportunity to gain a degree that would've been an excellent plan B if anything went wrong with the NBA carreer.

I think the player's association and the NBA need to come up with some regulations if not for their own good at least for the good of these kids. Maybe at least make it to your Junior year in college and then you're elegible for the draft.

I agree with what your saying but it really is the players decision. If they can't seem to understand that going into the NBA right out of highschool can hurt them, then they will regret it. The thing that is bothering me is that if they did go to college then they will probably be 10 times better and make the NBA better.
