The first one is a snail I have one in my tank but I forget the name. Some one on here will be able to tell you because this is where I found out what it was. It is not a bad thing to have in your tank. The urchin I have heard both positives and negative so I will let someone else give their opinion.

I believe the snail is a Turbo Snail. Not so sure on the urchins, but I do know that they hurt something aweful when your knee hits them while diving. :-) I had spines in my knee for 6 months before they worked their way out.

The problem with urchins is that they'll eat any kind on algae ...including your coralline!!!, so IMO you're safer by taking him out of there.

does the snail have a shell that looks like a small fingernail - if so its probably a stomatella. this guy has a picture of one down in the snails section as well as other various critters id.

well i guess the urchins got to go then, as for the snail its not a stomatella, it doesn't have a "foot" like most snails it just seems to have little bristles sticking out from under his shell, i tried to pick him up and have a look at his underside but he has a pretty good grip and i didn't want to hurt him trying to pry him off the rock, i'll see if i can get a better pic

stomatella! That's the name i couldn't remember. Mine is the same way and you really can't see a foot just these little bristles sticking out the side. But it does have a foot. Your pic looks just like a stomatella.

I wasn't aware that urchins ate coralline wow that bites.

Yes urchins eat off the coralline too. Here in PR there is a beach that is infested with those little suckers, in this beach there is a reef that use to be covered with all kinds of life now all you can see is bare rock and urchins.
