Mine comes from being a former United States Marine. A marine who had been around a long time and was very knowledgable in his job was calld an Old Salt and of course Marines were called my the Germans in WWI Devil Dogs. So putting them both together I came up with Salty Dawg!!

This is a pretty cool topic. Mine is kind of silly, years and years ago...around 10yrs ago I would guess. My parents finally had gotten this new thing called AOL that let you....well you know.

My mother made up this screen name because I work for UPS, upstoday was on of the suggested names by AOL. I've just continued to use it ever since so I don't have to remember any others lol

Do you drive for UPS?

Drivers make killer money, I heard.....you can afford a NICE tank...much better than a lowley state worker like myself....

Yeah we do make decent money compared to some not as much as it used to be. Well atleast it's still tough to make it living on Long Island with the salary. If it wasn't for my wifes parents we'd still be living in a one bedroom apt lol.

But I do have the peace of mind knowing that when I retire I won't have to worry about anything. Now I just have to start poppiing out the kids so I can get them out of the house in time for me to retire :D Always gotta think ahead

MikeJS, Thats too funny, but so true! I will make a mental note of that suggestion, lol.

Imaexpat2...since being in the military I have been around the world and everyplace but the US, so I sometimes feel like more of an expatriot or refugee. Uncle Sam is good at doing that for you. so..."Im a expat." and just through the 2 in there incase someone else could relate...I have spent a lot of times with friends that are are no kidding, Expats too!

Good explanation imaexpat...I thought it had to do with you calling yourself an expert....like at this marine aquarium thing. I too can relate with your woes. I have been active duty for almost 20 years.....and am over halfway to retirement!!!LOL

LenandTracy.....not too interesting...just me (Len) and the best thing to ever happen to me (Tracy).

06-27-2004, 02:47 AM
Oh no you didnt!!! I know a bit - enough to be dangerous but not that much! Maybe I should change it if thats the case/perception.....One thing I have found that holds true about the hobby is the more you learn the more you realize there is so much more out there that you havent learned.

I am glad somebody else can relate too. Whoo Whoo I am only 30 days away from parole, I mean retirement!

I guessed as much. Nothing wrong about that though...

But you know what they say "Behind every successful man stands a even greater woman!" I have seen that hold true more times than not...JMHO.

len: What a sweet thing to say! Tracy is very lucky!

Imaexpat: I thought the same thing Len did! (It's our insecurities coming through!) Congrats on your upcoming retirement!

imanexpat2,

Man, don't change a thing....and congrats on the upcoming Retirement. Is that with 20+ or did you go for the full 30?

I also have to agree with Conni that our assumption is just our insecurities incarnate. Since I have been at this for a mere 6 months, everyone seems like an expert.

Grateful Dead song.

dang, you're even cooler than I thought you were. The dead are awesome.

Condiman, my favorite is American beauty too. I love playing "Friend of the devil" and "Ripple" on my guitar and my friend who really likes them also does the vocals. I'm going to learn "Box of Rain" next.

Oh, yeah, I'm all about the frickin' frags and that expression "frick and frack" kind of morphed into it.

Sugar Magnolia

okay Condiman and Frick...would you please tell me who the heck the doo-da man is and just how I'm supposed to keep Truckin' like him if I don't know who he is, let alone how he's Truckin'. One of life's great mysteries.

I put in my senior yearbook as my favorite quote: "What a long strange trip it's been."
