What is the going rate (inches per gallon) for a FOWLR tank?

well it depends on a lot of other things on inches per gallon if youre trying to not over stock your tank too. but 1 inch per 4 gallons should be more than enough.

:oops: one inch for every 4 gallons? wtf? that means 10 inches of sand in a 40g tank? :lol:

i would reccomend a short layer of medium grain sand.

oh :)

in That case, the 'inches per gallon' rule should never been used. ..

.. havent heard of anyone make reference to that in a long time.

per example... 4" batfish

(requires min 200g)

4 inch goby http://www.dive-dive.com/005.jpg
(requires min. 20 gal)

Jimbos right there is no inch per gallon rule that works, 12/1 inch neon tetras have no where near the mass of a 12 inch oscar, in fact 12 tetras wouldn't even make a decent meall for an oscar :)

If possable I would like to keep 2 Angle Fish 5" total and 2 Gobies 6" Total in a 60 Litre tank and minimal LR. Am I pushing the limits? I know the Angles will get bigger but I would only keep them in this tank until I get a bigger one in about 4 months. If you think this is too much, would you say just the two Angles by themselves would be alright?

60L=16 gallons.....

way too small for angels...what kind of angels are you looking at? Dwarfs need a minimum of 25-35 gal. IMO....

One is a Bicolour angle and one is a Juvenile Koran angle. The Koran will grow large but is only about 4cm at this stage. The Bicolour is about 7cm. I plan to have a new large tank for them within 6 months. What does IMO mean?

IMO= in my opinion

that tank is too small for either angel. Aside from the swimming room and growth issues, the smaller tanks tend to be more difficult to maintain good water conditions in. Both of those angels need good water quality.

I'd wait until you have the larger tank before attempting to keep either of them.
