well this is what I found.
chaetodon lunula (raccoon butterflyfish)
max length 7.9 in.
min aqua size 75 gal.
foods & feedings: varied diet, including marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp, and frozen preparations, feed at least 3 times daily.
reef aqua compatibility: unsafe with most corals and desirable invertabrates, with the exception of well-armed crustaceans.

I have been told you have to be carefull with that fish, because it has been know to eat the other inhabitants of the tank. Not sure how the trigger and the raccoon will get along, both are agressive fish.
tell us how the two get along, I also want a trigger fish but not sure what else it gets along with

about 13 years ago, I had a 55 gal tank and I had a lawnmower blenny, bicolor blenny, 16" snowflake eel, spotfin lionfish 6", niger triggerfish 7" and 5 anemones and were added to the tank in the order I've got them in and back then I did'nt know better but I use to feed my carnivorous goldfish (i know did'nt know better back then)once in a while I'd throw in some damsels and my other fish I did'nt feed much because my tank was full of live brine shrimp. but they all lived together for about 3 year, until we had are big flood and I lost my tank in the flood and house. don't ask me how they got a long for so long but they did.

my raccoon I got yesterday, and he's not eating What do I need to do ?
I tryed tetra merine and dry plankton, and my raccond did not eta anything, I'm very worry with him.
BERTSCH,
The butterflys fish is not agressive and also the niger trigger is not agressive too, another triggers fish is agressive but not the niger he can be agressive just with very small fishes, and also the niger can be kept in reef tank.
thanks

ok this is another arthurs input on them, Nick Dakin
habitat: there should be plenty of rockwork for hiding in and an adequate swimming area.
PH 8.1-8.3
temp 77-79
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitarate less than 10ppm NO3 at all times
specific gravity: 1.021-1.024
dissolved Oxygen: 6-7ppm
water changes 15-25% every 2 weeks is essential, using high quality-nitrate free water.
filtration: efficient filtation with protien skimmer and activated carbon as standard.
Lighting: med to bright.
feeding: many butterflyfish will accept the usual frozen and live marine fare such as brineshrimp, mysis, lobster eggs, sponge-based foods and small pieces of squid, occasionally they may take marine flake food.
Health: butterflyfish are extremely sensitive to parasites, bacterial infections and other diseases brought about by poor environmental conditions and usually succumb very quickly.
sorry for the books but if you can take a little time to fill out your "MY Tank" it would be a little easier to help you pin point problems and help you out faster.

interesting, from what I have been told I can not have the raccoon in the tank, and I also wanted the niger and again informed he would/could become aggressive. Guess i have learned a lesson believe nothing of what i hear from the lfs, not the first time they have given me bad information.

I'm new to forums specially this one and hope that what I'm about to say doesn't offend anybody, but IMO this is exactly why before you buy a new specimen for your tank you should do some extensive research on it. Honestly, I beleive that you shouldn't buy a fish just to see "if it works out" or because you just happen to walk in your LFS and liked a fish just go ahead and buy it. If we would do this it would tremendously decrease the amount of little critters that end up taking the porcelain ride. Just my opinion.

yes, I know all this things before buy a fish, but this time I looked and I see the raccoon is very well, but I forgot to ask the guy from the store to feed the fish before buy, and the raccon did not eat yet, Do you guys knows if I can try blood warms(fromzen) ? I just tryed with tetra merine and dry plankton .
thanks again

so, about the NIGER TRIGGER, my tank is FO but I have a lot of friends kept him in a reef tank and there is no problem about eating corals or agressive, mine is not agressive too, my yellow tang is more agressive than him.

I've read that the Niger trigger is the least aggressive of the triggers, and as much as I would love to someday get one I also hope to add LR and maybe some day way down the road some coral.
Therefore I won't get one but I will always stand back and admire them.

Is there anyway of geting a hold of the person you got him from and see what it was eating? have you tryed small pieces of squid? was the fish something they just got or had been there awhile?
