I am a complete beginner and am wondering what any of you would think about my current tank situation. I have a 16 gallon tank and would like to make it a reef tank. I'm thinking a sea Anemone and a clown fish or 2 for starters. My friend helped me set this tank up and he had me buy Stress Zyme which sayd it helps speed up the development of the biological filter to eliminate ammonia and nitrate, "AmQuel" which removes ammonia, chloramines, and chlorine and also "NovAqua" water conditioner which removes chlorine and copper. Now I just read an article on this site that said to not under any circumstances disrupt the forming of ammonia in the cycle phase... we already put the water in the tank... just that and the sand [not live]. It's heated to about 78F and the Penguin Mini filter is running. I know that my friend already put stress zyme and the water conditioner in the water along with the Instant Ocean salt. I want to get a piece of live rock within the next few days and put it in with some dead rocks so it can spread... I'm not sure how long it takes but that seems my best choice since I don't want to spend 200 bucks just for the rocks. Any ideas or suggestions?!

you dont really need that much chemicals in the water but if you leave it to cycle it should b fine make sure you get some testing kits (very important) and give the water a test b4 you put anything in also get the cheapest fish and limp of live rock for your tank to start with and if they die then atleast you didnt spend a fortune (please read on what type of fish are cohabitable).
my live rock has spread to my quory rock quit fast but it still takes some good time you just have to give it time dont rush it or you will regret it
