Hi y'all

Everybody always says that tangs don't get along and you are not supposed to put them together in a tank.
but i've seen so many pictures where there are 3 different types of tangs in there. Even my tank has got different tangs in there and they seem to get along just fine. Is it just a myth to not put them together? I'm just asking out of curiosity. Thanks y'all

I added a powder blue tang, yellow tang, and received a regal tang as a gift all at the same time. The regal or royal blue tang turned white and got picked on by the other two. The powder blue and yellow tang get along great, swimming together all the time. I ended up selling the regal tang to a LFS, before something drastic happened.

I have had a yellow and regal tang in the tank for a while who got along perfectly fine.......i then added a powder blue tang who only got picked on by the yellow tang for about 24 hours. The regal tang never seemed to care. However, they all get along perfectly fine now.

well they can be aggressive towards each other but it isnt impossible to keep them in the same tank. mainly when someone wants more than 1 tang in a tank they introduce them all at the same time or re aquascape some of the live rock or whatever then introduce the new tang. but even by doing this it isnt a 100 percent they will get along.

Tangs that look similar will not like eachother. I had a naso with a sailfin and they ignored eachother. Got them at the same time and placed them at either end of a 300g tank though.
The local LFS has a purple tang that has been returned to them three times because it just picks on everything.
