I dont believe ive ever seen one like that for sale anywhere. Where did you get it from? Here is a link to a zebra, you can see the bands that it has on the legs plus the coloring.

This one has stripes, no bands.....I bought 2 of them at my local pet store..they were selling them as common hermet crabs 2/$1.00
I forgot to ask them if they were reef safe.???? I looked up common hermet crabs and the photos I seen the crabs are red, Now done know what there are

A good way to NORMALLY, not always, tell if they are reefsafe, is to look at their pinchers, do they look big and look like they are for tearing flesh, or are they algae pulling type claws...all of this matters. :) Keep that in mind, that's normally a good way to help identify a crab, is by the claws.

The meat eater crabs have pointed claws, meaning their tips. And the plant/algae eaters have a rounded tip.

Correct.
Although big mean looking claws, generally signify that its not a plant eating crab.

They are most likely just eating the algae off the live rock almost all my hermits spend most of their day on the live rock in my tank (good predator for unwanted algae (diatoms, hair, green, etc). I would put them back in :)

They are just picking through the rock, most crabs tend to do this...they eat detritus and other things off of the rocks.

Well I put them back in, hope they dont eat the color (algae coraline) off my rocks........

I don't think your going to have any problems with them eating the coralline algae.
What part of South Florida are you from bckane?

he looks hungry....
I'd just keep an eye on him....crabs tend to be pretty omnivorous....I've tried a few different species of hermits and the only ones so far I've had that didn't pester my corals are the scarlet reef hermits...
