Depending on water quality and lighting. It may be as little as a week but can take up to maybe 2 weeks.

oh okay. the ricordeas about 1 inch in diameter. do you think that its too small to divide into two ricordeas?

I dont see why not but if you let them get bigger they will be easier to handle.

You could also put a rubber band on it, (NOT) tight just enough to hold it to the rock so it doesn't float off the rock.

Rubberbanding ricordea's isn't a good idea, because of their mouths, in my opinion it hasn't worked great for me.
What's an even better idea, is to take say a disposable tupperware dish, you know the ones that have snap on lids....and throw the lid out, and put a bunch of shells and crushed coral in it, live rock rubble will do as well, anything to block the flow of water will work, a bowl, a dish, etc...you do that, so that it can attach to the rubble, and then it can be removed from the dish and placed back in the tank. Works great.

What I have also seen is people taking wedding veil material and placing it over the ricordia. This way it keeps it in place and dosent physicaly put any stress on to the fragged ricordia.

Yes, that's a good way to do it as well.
Wrap the veil over the ricordea and rubberband around the bottom part of the veil, not on the actual ricordea, like Garf does for some of their capnella and leathers.

yeah ive heard about using the wedding viel and thats what i use to attach loose shrooms. i even use the grocery store netting that they use to bundle in apples and such. but i just placed it on a peice of live rock where theres little water flow and its doing fine. thanks.
