I have had a LTA for about 3 months. For the most part it has stayed in one spot, front and center. The other day I had to remove my 2 perc clowns that were hosting in the LTA to put them in quarantine (possible ick outbreak). I had to move some rocks around the LTA to get the clowns and then had to move the LTA to put the rocks back in the same spot. I put the LTA in the same spot but everday it keeps moving behind rocks where there is no light and I can't see it. This has been going on since last week. I thought it was settled in the last time I moved it back to the original spot b/c it stayed there 2 nights but this morning it was back behind the rocks again. Any thoughts on why it keeps moving all the sudden and how do I get it to stay in the original spot? Is it okay to try to keep moving it back? Is it bad for the LTA to stay behind the rocks where there is no light?

Has the LTA lost any color at all? The only thing I can think of is it might be trying to split, they hide where there is less light when this process takes place. How big is the LTA?

I thought that also. I just think its weird that it would try to split on the same day that I had to move it to get to my clown fish. It is about the size of my hand. It has been moving since last week every time I try to put it back so I doubt that it is trying to split. Could it be moving since the clowns are not present at this time?

It could be trying to find a new place being that it is unhappy but how long has it been in place. Normally they will only do that when first introduced into a new aquarium. Once established it should be ok, unless something in the tank change, water quality, lighting, water current, etc. The anemone can survive without a host and vice versa with the clowns. I really dont think because the clowns are gone that it is in search for them. Most people think when the anenome is spliting that it is going to die, so they take it out. Just keep an eye on it, the last thing you want to do, is keep moving it back it will cause more stress on the anenome.
