This is a question for the six that responded stating they do a water change weekly. Do you really do a 25% water change weekly or did you misread the poll? I am just curious because that is a very large water change to be a weekly occurrence.

it doesn't look like anyone does a 25% change at once, i have a 29g tank w/10g sump, i change 4g every 2 weeks

There wasn't a category that exactly matched what I do, so I chose the weekly because that's the closest. As I stated, I do four gallons weekly, on my 80G (which actually has about 55G after DSB and LR are subtracted) which translates to about 7.25% weekly, which is about 29% monthly. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer in the beginning!

Mike, is that all at one time or is that small water changes spread out over the course of 4-5 weeks?
in my fw tanks i have always monitered nitrate levels and used that info to get a feel for how much water i needed to change per week to keep nitrates within an acceptable level but with salt i see that everyone has a different amount they change at different times, is it just a case of "whatever works for you" or is there a
method to the madness? cause i guess i can go either way

I am really new here, but based on what I've read and what other people do. I will probably do a bucket's worth, i.e. 6-7 gals, every 3-4 weeks for my 30 gals tank. Thats about %25 water change.

when your starting out i believe i did like 3-4 gallons aweek as well as topping off the waterevery two weeks you should do a 20%water change i think

I also have a 30 gal and I do 3-5 gals. water changes a week depending on how dirty the skimmate is coming out of my protein skimmer.

55 gallon tank... probably have bout 52 gallons of water including the fuge...

I change out 5 gallons every Saturday...

I do a water change every Sunday morning and take the parimeters Sunday night. 5 gal for a 46 gal tank. I beleive that adds up to 50% monthy. As my tank gets older I plan to change less water weekly for 25% total. I am still trying to get nitrates down.
