I added a yellow tang, regal tang, and I got a powder blue tang as a gift. I also added a bubble wand to my 75 gal fowlr tank with 2 clowns, hermit crab, and 2 snails.
The yellow and powder blue tang get along great, swimming together all the time. The regal blue tang lays on the bottom in the bubbles and doesn't swim much at all, he does eat though. Is this normal??? I have seen the yellow and the powder blue darting at him once in a while. They are all about the same size. I tried taking the regal blue back to the LFS, but was shot down. The clowns are doing fine.
I also threw in a couple of empty shells for the blue hermit crab to check out. He has been inside one of them for two days now, with his original shell part way inside the new one. Is this normal??? How long does it take for a crab to switch shells???
I was going to leave the tank alone for about 2-3 weeks, and am thinking about getting a flame angel and maybe a manderin. Any thoughts, good or bad, about these fish would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Mick

No your hermit is stupid. One shell is enough and they can do this in about 5 minutes if they feel safe.

I think your are over stocking your tank now. 3 tangs is pushing a 75 in terms of swimming space. A mandarin might not be a wise choice with so many fish and no refugium. They live off pods and I have found how difficult it is to feed them other stuff!

Flame angel is a good pick.

try moving around some of your live rock and it might distract your other tangs from your regal and might stop them from picking on it. and 3 tanks is too much

I did reconfigure the rocks, but it doesn't matter. I agree that 3 tangs is too much, I am trying to find a LFS to take the regal, I would hate to see it die. :(
