Is it better to use at night or during the day? Also, should I shut off the skimmer while using it and if so, how long should it be shut off?

I dose mine just after lights go out. Yes you should shut off the skimmer for about an hour after you dose.

i agree with condy man. turn the skimmer of for about an hour. But i feed with phytoplankton in the day. Im not sure if that effects anything.

I dose in the daytime, mainly because of my clam..I've tried at night, but it does not seem to want to eat then.
