Thanks for the compliments. The lights are one 175 watt 10,000k XM MH and two 32 watt actinic pc's. I also run a 6' blue rope light at night to view at night.

You have a nice setup there! I see you have a yellow tang though, its going to need a bigger tank before you know it. Do you have a 75 gal or bigger to transfer it into? Keep up the good work :)

I've switched plenty of tanks back and forth between fresh and salt with no negative effects, just clean them out good before switching...

Thats a great tank, let alone you took on the challange of a hexagon tank! Was it hard for aquascaping and things like that? And sorry if you have already answered this question whats size is it? And BTW are those types of tanks easier or harder then a standard tank in your opinion. Sorry bout all the questions. LOL.

Thanks for the compliments. The tank is an Oceanic 42 gallon hex. I also have about 12 to 13 gallons in my sump. To answer your question is it harder. I would say it proved to be a difficult challenge. I woked very hard to get the look I have. Lots of stacking and restacking of the rock. Thanks for noticing though!
travisito83:
Time is all it takes. Post some pict of it. If you have any questions shoot me an email and I will answer what I can.
Here is a newer pic and also a pic of the clam moving a coral for me. I was actually going to move my clam because the montipora cap and it were fighting for space. Looks the the clam wins cause it broke it loose from its spot. The cool thing was the break was so perfect I just glued it to a different location. I could have never done it myself.

I'd love to see the lighting configuration over that hex. Such cool looking tanks!
Thats a smoking hot tank you got there, I am jealous!!!
Those were some greta pics for sure. Very good job. Even better job on making a Hex tank look that awesome. I really loved the Live Rock arrangement in that bad boy, corals too! Cant wait to see the pics of the 120 when you get that set up going. I am definitely going to take some notes.....

I am expanding the system a little. I have a friend who bought a sump system from a fellow hobbiest getting out. As part of the pruchase he got a LifeReef 22 gallon refugium that was drilled with an in and and out. So I decided to add this into my system. In the tank is a 20lb piece of rock that had such great shape I just could not pass it up. I put in some araganite sand to help balance the PH a little more. The lighting will be a Coral life 24" 130 watt PC unit. That should be plenty to keep what I want in there.
As far as the equipment on the hex. The tank is a 42 gallon lit with one 175 watt XM MH with two 32 watt PC actinics. I run about 800 gph in the tank accomplished by two PH's and a Mag 5. In the 13 gallon sump is a heater and a Excalibur skimmer modified from hang on to in sump. I plan for a small refug in the sump as I have an 18 watt pc for that. That will come with time.
Thanks to all who have complimented the tank.
