I always recommend medicating fishes in a QT tank, never the main tank.
If you must treat him in the main tank, I'd suggest garlic...here's a link to an article on the subject...

You can use these two products -
MelaFix
PimaFix
Use both together for the best outcome. You add 1 teaspoon of each once a day for 7 days. Do not run carbon based media while using these medications. Then you do at least a 25% water change when treatment is done. They take care of all kinds of fish problems and they do not harm any fish, inverts or corals. If someone with corals does use these medications their corals look unhappy but they are not harmed:)

A friend of mine that wa sin the hobby for years told me that when ever he got ich he would raise the tank temp up to about 86 for a few days and it would kill it off. My fish ended up getting ich, i raised the tank temp for about a week, and a month and a half later I haven't seen it return. I've wised up however and am going to use a QT from now on!
