Whats the best weir,overflow,standpipe?

Hiya guys i am sorting out my new tank and thinking what to do with it, as this thread:

http://www.coralforum.com/sutra11706.html#11706

and for the overflow was thinking of using a durso stanpipe, the dual standpipes in one overflow chamber.

But was wondering what you guys think of these overflows, and whether they are as quite as everyone says they are.

Thanx Andrew

Go durso!

any mods you would do to the durso?

and which air hole do you think is best: the airline with tap or the end cap with hole?

I think I'd use the airline with a valve.

I personally wouldn't do much to the Durso, Richard has done a fine job the way it is in my opinion.

cool thanx jared.

one more if you dont mind.

would out go for one large overflow with 2 dursos in.
or would you go for 2 overflows with one durso in each?

i considered the same thing for my 220g tank and decided that 2 overflows would just complicate things, the extra plumbing wouldn't really be that big of a deal but then you have to get them both set at the same level to maximize there effectiveness, other wise i think one would be flowing more water than the other, if you can get 1 unit that will move the volume your shooting for i think that would be the best way to go, just my 2 cents

what size overflow do you suggest, like 10" by 5" if i was to have two 1 1/2" piping with 2 dursos?

what overflow are you looking at? i have a CPR cs102 that has two 1 1/2" drains, its rated at 1400gph (5298 ltr?) i've never tested that figure because my pumps not big enough, but i beleive i'm flowing about 1000gph(3784 ltr) with this set up, and it measures 10"x 4 1/2", if your using a u-tube type overflow of course the number of u-tubes will play a role in how much water you'll flow

i was going to build the overflows myself. as the tank i bought second hand and has one holes or weirs etc in it.

is your weir in the corner so only has two sides for the water to flow over or is it on the back wall?
