Guys I need help I just purchased a new PC linear strip with moon lights ya know the new Coralife delux series set up. This cant be right? I turned the moon lights on and the look like s***, the lights do not cover the whole tank where they hit they look pretty neat but what about the middle of the tank? I cant tell for sure if the fish and inverts like it or not I guess it is mainly for them but for $160 would you return it for a different set up without the moonlights? Seems like the difference in price is about $30. I just dont know what to do and I am not sure but I dont think I am able to handle the 130 wattage I keep blowing the fuse box and having to reset it I will have to try again in the morning and see what I can unplug from the power strip but I think everything on the strip is for the tank I am so upset now when I was so excited earlier. Anyone have the same experiences or can someone offer some suggestions. I swear I am about to cry!!!

coral_diver,
We all have had experiences like that in this hobby...some are a major let down. All I can tell you to do, is 'make' a PC strip and incorporate your own 'moon lights' using superbright LED's.

That isn't the biggest prob though I cant run the strip light it keeps blowing my fuse box. I can only run the moon lights. I can not run the acentic or the 10000K day light they are 65w EACH. I cant run them alone let alone forget about together!!! So what do I do? Do you all run your lamps using a powerstrip? That will be my next thing to try tonight after work. Everything plugged in to the powerstrip is for the tank though so I can unplug. I dont know what the problem is? I think I am not going to be able to keep softies just because I cant run the lights how obsurd!

there is probably several outlets and possibly ceiling lights on that same circuit breaker, i had the same problem in my fish room,i just added a new circuit breaker to my box and ran all the tank outlets off the new breaker, i'm by no means an electrician but it was easy enough to do, if you don't feel comfortable doing this kind of work call an electrician or maybe you have a buddy thats good with wiring

if you do upgrade your wiring have a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter outlet installed or buy a power strip that is GFCI protected, it might save you or your fish from getting shocked

Yes, a fishroom's wiring MUST be planned occordingly. You can't overload breakers, or they will trip. The best advice I have for youcoral_diver is to have someone with some electrical experience check the wiring, or rewire your fishroom like cich1 has already stated. Good luck.

Talked to the guy at Coral Cave where I got the PC light strip and told him how I tried it everywhere in the house and he feels it is a faulty strip, I am going to return the one I have and he will replace it and I will let all know how it turns out. This was a thought in my mind but no one else seemed to come up with it as a possibility? I am just blown away at the fact that my bathroom and bedroom are on the same breaker and my hairdryer is 1879W and it doesn't blow the circuit??? Wish me luck!!!

Yeah, if it's tripping the breaker I'd say the strip is wired wrong....I wired my VHO's incorrectly (the instructions for some odd reason were in German they forgot to give me English.... ) and it would just trip the breaker...once I got it fixed no problems....
