I want to remove the 100lbs of LS from my 90 into my 55. the 90 is a year old. can i leave my eel and other critters in the 90 while i take out the sand or will the removing of the sand cause all my critters to die?
I have a snowflake eel, pencil urching, a sand star, cc star, 70+ snails.
I need to do this by saturday.
thanks

Why would you want to remove so much sand? I think that disturbing that much sand will cause a serious crash to your system. Remember that the stuff at the bottom of a deep sand bed is toxic to fish, or at least that is what I have been led to believe. If you plan on keeping both tanks running I would purchase some quality sand for a Marine Tank and then maybe take 5lbs or so from your 90 to seed the tank. On the other hand you can set up a quaranteen tank and move the critters to it while you do it and then allow the 90 to settle down and get the levels right.

well I want to turn my90 into a Fresh water tank not saltwater. But i want to use the LS from the 90 for my 55 which will be salt... Im doing a leaf fish only tank and dont need the 90. I want to keep something else that needs a large tank so the 90 is whats going to be fresh water.
